What a wonderful idea. I didn't even think to go to eBay for these essentials. Possibly because I wait until the last minute. THanks for the great idea! I'm going there right now.

Hi Delaina,
I would agree with you that I have spent as much money on Oshkosh outfits as Gap ones and yes they have some really cute stuff! What I have noticed in trying to re-sell these items on eBay is that they do not bring as high of a price as the bigger name brand items. And at my garage sale, people are just not willing to pay that slightly higher price unless it is a very popular name brand. I wish it weren't so because I like to buy items that I know I can re-sell and at least get some of my hard earned money back!

Thanks so much for this article (and your other garage sale ones). My MIL and I are having a sale in a few weeks and I've been pretty frantic about how we're going to do it. I had no idea you could rent tables, I think that will really help us a ton! Now if only I could convince her to part with all the stuff she's hoarding in the attic and we'll be set!

Hi Michelle!
Thanks for sharing your garage sale tips for the teen/young adult clothing, that is an excellent idea!
I do not have a price guide for buying baby equipment, that is something I will have to put on my to do list!

I agree with your #1 clothing tip for selling clothing at rummage sales...All it takes is for one person from your group showing up with dirty merchandise. It spoils the whole shopping and selling experience for everyone. I hate digging through a stack of dirty clothes...stained clothes don't scare me (I'll even buy some if I know that I can get the stains out and the price is right)!

Tashia,

I am past the little kid stage for selling children’s clothing at a garage sale, but I am shopping for a grandchild now at yard sales for baby clothing and accessories and your guide is a good shopping tool too. I’m always looking for a good price and am willing to pay the prices you have listed in your kids clothing pricing guide if the item is in excellent shape. I’m also looking for used baby equipment at garage sales to stay at Grandma’s…do you have a guide for pricing on baby equipment? I don’t want to be paying too much:)

Your price list is an excellent guide for the teen/young adult clothing also. One thing we did to sell teen kids clothes was to provide a dressing room and mirror at our garage sale. Because the prices were marked higher on my teen kids’ name brand clothes, I wanted it easier for someone to pay the higher asking price…and they were willing when they knew it fit!
